About us
Welby Innovate was created to realise the potential of electronic patient record functionality to optimise, standardise and automate clinical and administrative processes to improve the quality and efficiency of care provided in General Practice. It is a joint venture between The Welby Group of Practices and Innovative Practice.
Matt Doig, Founder and Director of Innovative Practice, has been working on developing exciting ways of optimising the SystmOne instances for Practices across the UK for several years and has been working with the Welby Group since 2017.
The Welby Group
The Welby Group of Practices is a growing provider of primary care services across Lincolnshire and Leicestershire. Established as a new Partnership in 2016, the Group now cares for 43,500 patients across five contracts.
In 2023, we recognised that sharing our experience and ways of working could help other practices facing the same pressures. We began developing a standardised yet customisable version of the systems and workflows that had transformed patient care and operational efficiency across the Welby Group.
Our approach is designed to make better use of SystmOne, creating safer, more efficient workflows for both clinical and administrative teams. By reducing duplication, streamlining processes and helping teams stay on top of growing workloads, our systems enable practices to work more efficiently without compromising the quality or safety of patient care.
Since launching in autumn 2023, we have expanded to more than 125 surgeries, with over 1.5 million patients now having their care coordinated using our systems.
We are also supporting practices through pan-PCN engagement and training, helping groups of surgeries adopt and embed new ways of working at scale.
Our aim is simple: to share what works, make better use of the systems practices already have, and help primary care teams deliver safer, more efficient care.
Delivering innovative solutions to healthcare
Underpinned by good clinical governance and lead by a Committee of GPs with interests in systems, audit and evidence-based medicine, we ensure that our systems are as safe as they can be and always adapted to meet the latest versions of clinical guidance.
